Click Most Visited at the top right of the window to open your most often visited pages as below. You can access most visited and recently closed websites from the page. That removes the thumbnail images from the page. The speed dial page has an alternative list view. Press the Add Dial button at the bottom of the window to place the new speed dial on the page. There select the 3D Style option and press the Next button. That will open the Speed Dial tour shown in the shot below. Then click the New tab button on the right of the tab bar.

The nice thing about doing it this way is that the quality of the icons on your desktop will usually be better. This will bring up the regular Create Application Shortcuts window that you might be familiar with, but it will be tuned to that application. You can get back to your application list at any point by opening a new tab, and making sure that the Apps section is expanded. Just a few seconds later, you’ll be staring at a shiny new icon on your New Tab page, which is where all of these applications live.
